Etymology: < think v.2 + -ful suffix. Compare earlier thoughtful adj.
Full of or given to thinking; meditative, thoughtful. thinkful wishing: aspiration controlled by scientific thought or facts (chiefly used in allusion to Otto Neurath's coinage: see quot. 1943).The association with thankful seen in quot. 1889 is not uncommon in inspirational writings.In some later editions of J. Bunyan Holy War (e.g. that of 1718, p. 248) the minor character Mr Thinkwell appears as Mr Thinkful.
