1. The interpretation of another person's thoughts in the absence of outward signs of them; direct perception by one mind of what is passing in another, independent of ordinary means of expression or communication (a power sometimes alleged to be possessed by certain persons or by persons in certain psychic states); apparent performance of this as an illusion. Also more widely: anticipation of what a person intends to say or do.
