Origin: Apparently formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: they pron., self pron.
Etymology: Apparently < they pron. + self pron., but perhaps sometimes reflecting reanalysis of reduced forms of theirself pron. Compare earlier theyselves pron. Eng. Dial. Dict. records forms of theyself from Norfolk, Dorset, and Devon.
Chiefly U.S. regional and nonstandard (chiefly in African-American usage) and Caribbean.
