1934 C. C. Steele Introd. Plant Biochem. vi. xxi. 242 Borneol..is the secondary alcohol corresponding to camphor. It is often present in the plant as esters, especially as bornyl acetate.
2003 C. S. Sell Fragrant Introd. Terpenoid Chem. v. 102 Pinene hydrochloride is a very unstable molecule and, on standing at room temperature, converts into the isomeric bornyl chloride.
