释义 | boxing timen. Now chiefly historical. The period extending from Christmas Day to the end of the first week in January. ΚΠ 1831 Morning Chron. 29 Dec. A number of cases of assault were yesterday heard..in consequence of the parties ‘taking a drop too much’ at this ‘boxing time’. 1841 Times 1 Jan. 7/2 He really thought it would be prudent in their employers to give them a hint not to ‘raise their elbows’ so very often, even in ‘boxing time’. 1880 H.
