Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin telligraphum.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin telligraphum, telligraphium (frequently from 8th cent. in British sources), irregularly < classical Latin tellūs land (see Tellus n.) + -graphum -graph comb. form.
English History.
A description, esp. as given in a charter, of a piece or pieces of land, typically in terms of boundaries; a charter containing such a description. Cf. land-boc n., terrier n.2
