Origin: A borrowing from Panjabi. Etymon: Panjabi acchā.
Etymology: < Panjabi acchā good, also as interjection expressing either assent or surprise < Prakrit accha clear, clean, perhaps ultimately < Sanskrit arc- to shine.
Indian English.
1. Expressing assent or understanding; ‘okay’, ‘all right’. Also used interrogatively, at the end of a statement, to prompt agreement, approval, or confirmation.
