Apparently a transmission error for achafe v. (with the past participle achased for achafed) in one manuscript of the romance Partonope of Blois (see quot. a1450), probably resulting from the similarity of the letter forms f and long s.Achased is interpreted by N.E.D. (1884) as being the past participle of either an (otherwise unattested) verb achase (from a- prefix¹ + chase v.¹), or of chase v.¹, with a- for i-, y- (compare a- prefix²), and is defined there as ‘chased’.
