单词 terminer
释义

terminern.

Forms:

α. Middle English terminour, Middle English termynour.

β. 1500s–1700s terminer.

Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: termine v., -our suffix; termine v., -er suffix1.
Etymology: Partly (in α. forms), < termine v. + -our suffix, and partly (in β. forms) < termine v. + -er suffix1. Compare Anglo-Norman terminour judge, person appointed to make decisions (first half of the 14th cent. or earlier). With sense 1 compare terminator n. 1. With sense 2 compare post-classical Latin terminator (c1397, 1408 in British sources in this sense: see terminator n.). Attested earlier as a surname: Hugh Terminour, steward of King's College (Grantchester, 1351), although it is unclear whether this shows the Anglo-Norman or the Middle English word.
Obsolete.
