单词 | tecoma |
释义 | Tecoman. Botany. A large genus of Bignoniaceæ, mostly natives of warm climates, consisting chiefly of shrubs (erect, climbing, or twining), with leaves usually pinnate, and showy trumpet-shaped flowers of various colours (chiefly different shades of yellow and red), whence the name trumpet-flower; many are cultivated in greenhouses, etc. for their beauty. Some shrubby species have sometimes been reckoned in separate genera Tecomaria, Stenolobium, Campsis (or Campsidium), and Pandorea; others (of which some are tall trees used for timber and in medicine) formerly included in Tecoma, but with digitate leaves, are now separated as Tabebuia. Several species are also often called Bignonia.
