Etymology: < the name of Christian Bernhard, Baron von Tauchnitz (1816–95), publisher of Leipzig.
Used attributively and absol. with reference to volumes in the Collection of British and American Authors, a series begun by Baron von Tauchnitz in 1841 for sale on the continent.
