Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek τεχνικόν.
Etymology: < ancient Greek τεχνικόν, neuter of τεχνικός technic adj. In sense 2, the word is attested in names of South African technical colleges from 1979; compare technicum n.
1. Music. A device used to train the hands for playing the piano. Now historical and rare.
