(a) amino derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons, as benzidine, mesidine, toluidine, xylidine; (b) heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen in the ring, as piperidine, pteridine, pyridine, pyrrolidine, quinidine; (c) pyrimidine nucleosides, as cytidine, thymidine, uridine.With heterocyclic compounds the use of the suffix -idine sometimes indicates the presence of a saturated ring; cf. -iridine suffix and see quot. 1995.
