Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French taxologie.
Etymology: < French taxologie ( N. A. Desvaux in Journal de botanique (1813) 2 20), irregularly < ancient Greek τάξις arrangement, order (see taxis n.) + French -o- -o- connective + -logie -logy comb. form. Compare post-classical Latin taxologia (1826 or earlier). Compare taxonomy n. (and see discussion at that entry).
