单词 tanner
释义

tannern.1

Brit. /ˈtanə/, U.S. /ˈtænər/
Forms: Also ? Old English tannere, Middle English tanur, Middle English tannere, Middle English tannour, Middle English tannar(e, 1500s tannar, tanyer.
Etymology: The form corresponds with a rare Old English tannere < tannian to tan, and with Old French tanere (1226 in Godefroy Compl.), nominative case of taneör, tanour < Latin tannātor, tannātōr-em, but perhaps actually represents the French word. The form tanyer appears to be assimilated to words like sawyer, hosier, farrier; but compare Old French tanière (1280 in Godefroy).
