Etymology: A by-form of tabor n.1, chiefly northern English and Scottish, in medieval Latin tabornum (Du Cange). The inserted n appears also in Old French taborner , tabourner verb (see taborn v.). (The Scottish spellings taw-, tal- stand for a broad ā.)
Obsolete.
