Etymology: Latin sursum upwards + corda, plural of cor heart.
In Latin Eucharistic liturgies: the words addressed by the celebrant to the congregation at the beginning of the Eucharistic Prayer; in English rites, the corresponding versicle, ‘Lift up your hearts’. Also transferred and attributive.
