Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin superābilis.
Etymology: < classical Latin superābilis surmountable < superāre superate v. + -bilis -ble suffix. Compare Middle French, French †superable (1496, 1540, and 1655 in three apparently isolated attestations), Italian superabile (a1642).
Now rare.
Capable of being overcome; surmountable. Opposed to insuperable.
