Etymology: < post-classical Latin suppalpation-, suppalpatio slight flattery (4th cent.) < classical Latin suppalpāt- , past participial stem of suppalpārī to coax, wheedle ( < sup- sub- prefix + palpāre to coax, flatter: see palp v.1) + -iō -ion suffix1.
Obsolete. rare.
A coaxing persuasion, a wheedling enticement.
