单词 bowser
释义

bowsern.1

Forms: Also bowcer, bowsier.
Etymology: Derivation uncertain: perhaps a corruption of Anglo-Norman bourser , Old French boursier , bursar n. < bourse, purse. Notwithstanding the form bowcer , and the agreement in sense with boucher n., the two words can hardly be identical, since there was no Old French boucier, bouchier, with suitable sense. But the two bowser and bowger, (bowcher) may have been confused in English.
Obsolete.
A treasurer, bursar.
