Etymology: < stuck adj.² + -ism suffix.Coined in 1999 by British artist Charles Thomson (born 1953), the name of the movement alludes to the following extract from a poem by its co-founder, writer, artist, and musician Billy Childish (born Steven John Hamper, 1959), which is itself based on a comment on the poet's work by artist Tracey Emin (born 1963):1994 ‘B. Childish’ Big Hart & Balls 59 His paintings are stuck stuck stuck! he is stuck!The first exhibition staged by this group of artists, entitled Stuck! Stuck!
