Infestation with or disease caused by strongyloid worms, esp. ones of the genus Strongyloides; an instance or case of this.Strongyloidiasis may be asymptomatic, cause local symptoms (typically of the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in diarrhoea), or occur as a systemic and potentially fatal infection. The main species pathogenic for humans is Strongyloides stercoralis, found mainly in the tropics.
