Etymology: < Afrikaans boertjie < Boer Afrikaner (see Boer n.) + -tjie (pronounced /ki/), variant of -ie, diminutive suffix (occurring after a vowel or r, l, or n).
South African.
Used as a depreciative term for an Afrikaner. Also as a playful or affectionate mode of address.
