Etymology: modern Latin (Billroth), < Greek στρεπτός twisted (see strepto- comb. form; taken by Billroth to mean ‘chain’) + κόκκος berry.
Bacteriology.
A form of bacterial organism in which the cocci are arranged in chains or chaplets.
