Stevenson screen n. (formerly Stevenson's screen) a wooden box supported on a stand above the ground and made with doubly louvred sides and a double top with ventilation holes, so that thermometers or other instruments mounted inside it are sheltered from sunlight and precipitation and effectively register properties of the outside air.
