Origin: A borrowing from Sranan. Etymon: Sranan Sranantongo.
Etymology: < Sranan Sranantongo < Sranan , Sranang , the name of Suriname (probably < the English or Dutch form of the name: see Surinamer n.) + tongo language (see Ningre Tongo n.). Compare Dutch Sranantongo , Sranan Tongo (1951 or earlier). With use as adjective compare earlier Sranan adj. Compare also earlier Ningre Tongo n.
