(a) the John Dory, Zeus faber, having a single large, round, black spot near each pectoral fin (now rare); (b) a cichlid mouth-brooder, Sarotherodon galilaeus, of the Middle East and northern and central Africa, having a black spot on each side of the dorsal fin when immature.
