Origin: A borrowing from Korean. Etymon: Korean soju.
Etymology: < Korean soju ( < Middle Chinese (9th cent., denoting an unidentified kind of alcoholic drink); compare Chinese shāojiǔ kind of spirit).
A Korean alcoholic spirit made by distilling any of various grains and starches, traditionally rice, wheat, or barley, but now often potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.
