Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin spatiositas.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin spatiositas spaciousness (5th cent.), hollow space or cavity (13th cent. in a British source; 1363 in Chauliac) < classical Latin spatiōsus spacious adj. + -tās (see -ty suffix1; compare -ity suffix). Compare Middle French spaciosite hollow space or cavity (1478), French spaciosité spaciousness, extensiveness (1842), Spanish espaciosidad hollow space or cavity, spaciousness, extensiveness (late 15th cent.), Italian spaziosità spaciousness, extensiveness (14th cent. as spaziositade).
