Etymology: Probably < slummock v. + -ing suffix2, perhaps partly reflecting reanalysis of slammerkin adj. (compare α. forms in -ockin , -ackin at that entry). Compare slummocky adj.
colloquial and regional (esp. English regional, Australian, and New Zealand). Now somewhat rare.
