释义 | small coal mann. Originally: a man who supplies small coal (small coal n. 2). In later use: a retailer of coal on a small scale, a small coal merchant. Also: (cant) †a clergyman (obsolete).When used with historical reference to small coal men before the mid 19th cent. the term is apparently frequently understood in its later sense. ΚΠ 1643 H.
