Origin: A borrowing from Chinese. Etymon: Chinese sīu-meih.
Etymology: < Chinese (Cantonese) sīu-meih < sìu, sīu to cook, roast + meih flavour, food.
Hong Kong English.
In Cantonese cookery: marinated meat roasted on a spit over an open fire or in a wood-burning rotisserie oven. Originally and frequently attributive.
