Etymology: < classical Latin siser (in post-classical Latin also sisar, sisarum (6th cent.)), denoting a plant (probably the parsnip), probably (like ancient Greek σίσαρον) a loanword from a non-Indo-European language.
Obsolete.
The plant skirret, Sium sisarum, or its edible root.
