单词 skinnymalink
释义

skinnymalinkn.

Brit. /ˈskɪnɪməlɪŋk/, U.S. /ˈskɪniməlɪŋk/
Forms:

α. English regional 1800s– skinnymalink; Scottish 1800s– skinamalink, 1900s– skineemelink (Orkney), 1900s– skinnamalink, 1900s– skinnymalink; U.S. regional 1800s skinamelink, 1800s skinamulink, 1900s– skinnymalink, 1900s– skinnymarink, 1900s– skinnymerink, 1900s– skittamalink.

β. Scottish 1900s– skinnymalinks.

Origin: Apparently a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: skinny adj.
Etymology: Apparently an extended form of skinny adj. Compare later skinny-malinky adj. and skinny-malinky n.In β. forms probably showing -s suffix2. Probably popularized by a children's rhyme (compare discussion at skinny-malinky adj. and n.). A connection with skilamalink secret, shady, has been suggested (see P. Beale Partridge's Dict. Slang (ed. 8, 1984) 1077/2), but this seems unlikely on semantic grounds.
colloquial and regional.
