Etymology: Either < skeeve v., or independently as back-formation < skeevy adj. Compare Italian schifo (noun) disgusting person, creep (see skeevy adj.).
U.S. slang.
An obnoxious or contemptible person; a person regarded as disgusting, unpleasant, etc.

Origin: Probably formed within English, by back-formation; perhaps modelled on an Italian lexical item. Etymon: skeevy adj.
Etymology: Probably back-formation < skeevy adj., perhaps after Italian schifare to loathe (a1292), (reflexive) to feel disgust or nausea (a1342), to nauseate, repel (1959). Compare slightly later skeeve n.
U.S. slang.
1. transitive. To disgust (someone), to repel; to make uncomfortable. Also with out.
