Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek σιδηρουργία.
Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek σιδηρουργία working in iron < σιδηρουργός iron-worker ( < ancient Greek σίδηρος iron (see sidero- comb. form1) + ἔργον work: see erg n.1) + -ία -y suffix3; compare -urgy comb. form. Compare French sidérurgie (1807 or earlier).
