Mineralogist 49 820 From a study of natural and synthetic iron sulfates, it is concluded that the name siderotil should be applied to (Fe,X)SO4.5H2O, where X is any cation or group of cations individually less abundant than Fe. The pure compound probably does not exist in nature, but several examples of the cuprian variety are known. 2005 D. W. Blowes et al. in B.
