Etymology: < silicon n. + -ize suffix.Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: ˈsiliconize.
1. transitive. To cause to combine with silicon or its compounds; esp. to subject (a metal) to a process in which the surface is impregnated with silicon so as to form a protective coating.
