Origin: Formed within English, by conversion. Etymon: boo hoo int.
Etymology: < boo hoo int.
1. intransitive. To make a sound expressive of disdain, contempt, disapproval, dissatisfaction, etc.; to shout or jeer at. Also (in later use chiefly) transitive: (usually of an audience or other large group of people) to express disdain for or dissatisfaction with (a person or thing) by hooting, shouting, or jeering. Cf. boo hoo int. 2, boo v. 2.
