Etymology: An arbitrary formation, apparently coined by B. S. Ingram, editor of The Sketch periodical, where the comic strip was published.

Featuring, representing, or associated with the comic strip character Bonzo (see note).Bonzo, created by the English artist George E. Studdy, was a plump, mischievous puppy, and first appeared in the weekly periodical The Sketch in 1921. The character enjoyed great popularity throughout the 1920s, appearing in a series of books and animated films, and its image was featured on numerous postcards, figurines, accessories and other items of merchandise.
