Originally and chiefly Australian.
intransitive. To farm under an arrangement whereby expenses and profits are shared between the property owner and the person who farms the land. Also transitive: to farm (land) under such an arrangement.

1903 Wagga Wagga (New S. Wales) Advertiser 17 Oct. Mr. Shephard is a member of the firm of Shephard brothers, who have been share-farming about Brucedale on an extensive scale.
1913 Wagga Wagga (New S. Wales) Express 6 Sept. 4/3 Edward Jenkins, sharefarming 80 acres of land on the holding (710 acres) of Walter Thomas Murray, laid the information that Murray was not attending to the matter of the destruction of rabbits.
1944 Nelson (N.Z.) Evening Mail 12 Aug. 2/4 He was share farming a property for an absentee owner.
