1. Genetics. Of a genetic or phenotypic characteristic: occurring or manifesting chiefly or solely in individuals of one sex; influenced or modified by the sex of the individual.In early use, the term included characteristics whose genes are situated on the sex chromosomes, now more specifically called sex-linked.
