selfie stick n. a device in the form of a (telescopic) rod on which a camera or smartphone may be mounted, so that a person holding it is able to take a selfie from a greater distance than if the camera or smartphone were held in the person's hand. Some selfie sticks incorporate wired or wireless mechanisms which allow a user to take a photo once the stick is in the desired position, while simpler versions rely on the camera's or smartphone's built-in self-timer.
