Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin sēricātus , -ed suffix1.
Etymology: < classical Latin sēricātus clothed in silk, in post-classical Latin also (of a garment) silken (11th cent.; < sēricum silk (see Seric adj.) + -ātus -ate suffix2) + -ed suffix1. With sense 2 compare sericeous adj.
Now rare.
1. Clothed in silk. Obsolete. rare.Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
