Of a sweet pudding: that produces its own sauce during cooking. Also occasionally applied to a savoury dish.A self-saucing pudding is typically prepared with a layer of batter above or below a layer of ingredients (such as syrup, sugar and hot water, etc.) intended to form the sauce while the pudding itself cooks.
