Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: bisexual adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: < bisexual adj. + -ity suffix. In sense 3 after German Bisexualität (1892 in the passage translated in quot. 1892); compare homosexuality n. and slightly later sexuality n. 3.
1. Now chiefly Biology. The state or condition of having both male and female characteristics; spec. the state or condition of having both male and female reproductive organs, hermaphroditism.
