Etymology: < (i) Anglo-Norman scia, Anglo-Norman and Middle French scie (13th cent.), and its etymon (ii) post-classical Latin scia (frequently from 13th cent. in British sources), apparently aphetic for classical Latin ischia , plural (see ischium n.), taken as singular. Compare sciat n.
Obsolete.
