Etymology: < post-classical Latin satiation-, satiatio action of satiating or fact of being satiated (12th cent.) < classical Latin satiāt- , past participial stem of satiāre satiate v. + -iō -ion suffix1.Compare Middle French sossiacion satiety (15th cent. in an apparently isolated attestation). In sense 2 after German Sättigung (15th cent.; 1926 in the specific use in psychology: K. Lewin, in Psychologische Forschung 7 305).
