Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from Latin. Or (ii) a borrowing from Greek. Etymons: Latin satyriscus; Greek σατυρίσκος.
Etymology: < (i) classical Latin satyriscus or its etymon (ii) ancient Greek σατυρίσκος little satyr < σάτυρος satyr n. + -ίσκος, diminutive suffix.In quot. 1850 after German Satyrisk (1848 in the passage translated).
