释义 | saturniten. Mineralogy. Now historical and rare. Richard Kirwan's name for: a substance of uncertain identity obtained in lead smelting, said to resemble lead but to be immiscible with it. ΚΠ 1784 R. Kirwan Elements Mineral. xix. 361 Saturnite. The substance to which I ventured to give this name, is said by Mr. Monnet, to be found in the lead mines of Poullaoven in Brittany, and is separated from the lead ore during its torrefaction. 1896 A. H. Chester Dict. Names Minerals Saturnite, the name given to a furnace product from lead smelting, at first considered a simple mineral. 2015 M. Fontani et al. Lost Elements ii. 45 Richard Kirwan, who had heard about Monnet's work, proposed the name saturnite for the new mineral in a letter to Monnet.
